Dr Dlozi Khumalo began his journey in this specialisation by enrolling at the University of Pretoria in 1996. After completing his medical degree (MBChB) in 2001, he continued to serve at a public hospital for the next few years before he moved into practice as a general practitioner. In 2015 he felt compelled to specialise in Orthopaedic Surgery and thus returned to the University of Pretoria to fulfil this goal. After graduating in 2016, he continued to complete his Fellowship of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa: FC Orth (SA) in conjunction with The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Following this specialisation he yearned for more knowledge, leading him to obtain his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of Pretoria in 2017.
Based at Sunshine Hospital in Benoni, Dr Dlozi Khumalo runs a private orthopaedic practice specialising in spinal decompression (both laminotomy and laminectomy), spinal fusion and laminoplasty, as well as pain relieving treatments such as spine infiltration (injections) and rhizotomy. In addition, he is well-versed in joint replacement surgery done for the knee and hip, management of fractures (including the pelvis and acetabulum) and limb deformity correction.
